Hearthstone Wood Stove Glass Kit for Hearthstone I (8100): 91-58106

This is a replacement glass for Hearthstone I 8100 Wood Fireplace/Stove.  It is important to periodically inspect the glass and glass gasket on your wood stove to ensure you have a proper seal.  A crack in the glass or a missing / deteriorated gasket could allow smoke or flue gases to enter the room.

A Note About Our Glass: Unlike some manufacturers, we do not use tempered glass. Tempered glass should NEVER be used in a wood fuel stove, it is not suitable for high heat use. Our glass is made to resist very high temperatures up to 1,400° F / 760° C with low thermal expansion.

Install Instructions:

1.) Remove the front door. To remove, open it and tap out the hinge pins (Use the hammer and 3/16” punch and tap the hinge pins up from the bottom of each hinge tab on the doorframes).

2.) Lay the detached door(s) face down on a protected surface (i.e., cardboard on a workbench).

3.) Prepare the screws holding the eight glass retention clips in place by applying penetrating oil (Allowing them to set for a few minutes).

4. To replace the glass, remove the screws holding the glass retention bars in place with the Phillips screwdriver. After the retention clips are removed, carefully lift out the damaged glass and discard it (Be sure to put on your work gloves and safety glasses).

4. Prepare the new glass. Pull the paper backing off the new flat gasket (a little at a time works best). The adhesive side is applied to the glass overlapping each side of the glass. Continue around the glass until the entire glass is wrapped with the tape. Cut off any excess.

5. Place the glass back into the door. Place the retention clips back into their position on the door and secure them with the screws.

6. Place the door back onto the stove and tap the hinge pins back into place.

Helpful Tips:

If you need to remove the glass or glass gasket it is a good idea to spray any fasteners with a product like WD40 or PB Blaster prior to this step. This will greatly reduce the possibility of stripping or breaking any screws/bolts during removal. When reinstalling the glass tighten the fasteners in a crisscross pattern. This will help to ensure there is even pressure on the glass (Do not overtighten). 

Please open and inspect your glass to make sure that it has arrived intact. Damage Claims for broken glass from shipping MUST be made within 72 hrs of delivery, no exceptions. Glass breaking from after installation is NOT covered under warranty, this is due to improper installation. If you do not feel comfortable replacing your glass, please contact a licensed technician.
