How to Season Your Griddle

Seasoning builds a non-stick surface that protects your griddle and enhances flavor. The key is multiple thin layers of oil, not one thick coat.

Supplies Needed:

  • Bucket of water & dish soap
  • Cooking oil (canola, vegetable, or griddle seasoning)
  • Paper towels
  • Heat-resistant gloves or tongs

Steps:

  1. Clean the griddle with soapy water and paper towel to remove manufacturing residue. Rinse thoroughly.
  2. Heat on high for 10-15 minutes until the surface turns brown. Turn off and cool slightly.
  3. Apply a thin layer of oil across the entire surface using paper towels and tongs.
  4. Heat until smoke stops (about 30 minutes). The griddle will smoke heavily as the oil bonds to the metal. Turn off when smoking stops.
  5. Repeat 2-3 more times until the griddle is dark brown or black.
  6. Apply final oil layer for protection after cooling. Store with a cover.

Unfortunately, sometimes products do not work like they are supposed to. We offer a 90 day warranty on manufacturer defects. Some manufacturers make this a very simple and easy process unfortunately others do not. Items must be used in accordance with the manufacturers guidelines to qualify for warranty replacement.
