Instructions

Install Instructions For Cleveland Iron Works Wood Stove 3" X 10' Fresh Air Intake Kit: F500313-AMP
  1. Drill a 3 ½” hole through the wall that the intake air hose will exit through. This should be done after the exhaust piping system has been installed for your stove, so that you can avoid interfering with the exhaust pipe routing. Position the hole for the intake air kit as near to your stove as possible.
  2. Position one end of the flex hose over the Intake Air Tube of your wood unit. Apply the first hose clamp over this end of the flex hose and tighten it. See Figure 1.
  3. Route the flex hose from your stove, through the Inside Wall Plate (flat plate), through the 3 ½” hole in the wall, then to the Outside Wall Plate. The flex hose will bend and stretch as necessary.
  4. Install the aluminum screen to the Outside Wall Plate, then attach it to the end of the flex hose, with the second hose clamp around this end of the hose. Once the clamp and screen are installed, the hose should fit snugly to the hole of the outside wall plate, with the hose clamp on the inside of the wall plate and the screen on the outside of the wall plate.
  5. Fasten the Inside and Outside Wall Plates and Weather Hood to the interior and exterior walls of your home. For the Outside Wall Plate, lag bolts can be used (size of 1/4” x 1 ½”). For the Interior Wall Plate, decorative drywall screws (1”) will work (if your interior wall is drywall), or you will need to choose the type screw that is appropriate for your type wall. Pass the bolts through the two holes in the Weather Hood before passing them through the top two holes of the Outside Wall Plate. Remember to adhere to local codes, and please call Cleveland Iron Works Technical Support department at 1-800-251-0001 if you have any questions.

Troubleshooting

In a vertical installation where the vent pipe is visible in the room, if stove has it's appliance take-off located on the left or right side of the stove and you want to have the venting "centered" up the back of the stove, a clean-out tee may be used at a 45° angle off the back of the stove with a 45° elbow on top. The angled clean-out tee will off-set the installation left or right and the elbow will bring the venting back to center.

Off-set venting components such as elbows and clean-out tees have rotating sleeves at the bottom of each component so that venting can be locked together and spun to meet up with the next section of venting.

When adapting Pellet Vent Pro vent pipe into a flexible liner (masonry adapted installation), if you install a clean-out tee horizontally (instead of a 90° elbow), the clean-out cap can be removed to gain access to the liner for sweeping out the liner. This is much easier than taking the vent apart to clean or having to go up on the roof.

Every installation starts with an appliance adapter attached to the stove. From an aesthetic point of view, if you are doing a vertical install behind the stove, the install will look better if the venting can be as close to the stove as possible. Also, sometimes installations are "tight" with clearances and hearth pad restrictions. To help with these issues, Pellet Vent Pro offers venting components with adapters built-in. This keeps the venting close to the stove so the whole install can sit well on the center of the hearth and not have to reside out on the front edge. Component adapters include: 3PVP-X4AD (3" adapter to 4" increaser), 3PVP-TADX4 (3" clean-out tee with 3" adapter), 3PVP-T3AD (4" clean-out tee with 3" adapter)

When installing a wall thimble (3PVP-WT or 4PVP-WT), it's a good idea to have a length of vent pipe through the thimble before you fasten the thimble to the walls.
