Description

Heatilator Eco Choice Burn Pot Gasket, 1-00-07381 (Burn Pot Gasket Only)

The burn pot gasket goes between the burn pot and the body of the stove and prevents combustion air from leaking out at the connection so that all of the air is directed into the burnpot.

Things to look for to know when it's time to change this gasket:

  • ignition time is longer than normal
  • smoke is visible at the rear of the burn pot during ignition
  • excessive amounts of carbon are building up around the post and nuts that secure the pot to the stove (not sealing)
  • you haven't changed the gasket in 10 years
  • you are changing or you have removed your burnpot

Instructions

Install Instructions For Heatilator Eco Choice Burn Pot Gasket: 1-00-07381

To change the burnpot gasket:

  1. If your stove has auto-ignition, you are going to want to unplug the stove first.
  2. If you have an igniter, from the back of the stove, cut the zip ties on the wiring harness that cinches up the excess light blue and yellow wires. Follow the yellow wire to where it passes through the stove wall on the rear of the stove and push the excess yellow and light blue wires into the stove. If you have a black plastic plug with silicone around it, you may have to pry this plug out to free the wires so they will slip past and then push the excess length into the stove.
  3. Remove the flame guide
  4. Locate the four 1/2" nuts at each corner of the burnpot
  5. Remove these nuts. Make sure you do not lose them or the serrated washers behind the nuts. Set them aside.
  6. Gently put them burnpot away from the back of the stove. If you have an igniter, there will be ignition wires attached to the burnpot. Lower the burnpot until the yellow and light blue wires are visible and then disconnect the wires. Do not push the wires back into the stove as you will need to reconnect the wires after installing the new gasket.
  7. If you plan on changing the igniter anytime soon, this would be a great time to do it as the wiring is free and accessible.
  8. Scrape any old gasket from the refractory wall.
  9. Install the new gasket. Make sure to knock out the two loose tabs in the gasket. For most stoves, these tabs are not cut away for anything. This gasket is also used in some boilers and those cutouts are used for that install...but if you leave them in, they may come loose and clog the primary air channels built into some burnpot.
  10. Once the gasket is installed, reconnect your igniter wires and pull the extra length back until the disconnects reach the rear of the stove. Reinstall the wire plug if you removed it.
  11. Install the burn pot on the threaded posts and secure with the serrated washers and nuts you removed in step 5.
  12. Reinstall flame guide. If your flame guide is discolored to a mahogany color, if it is cracked or warped or if it is flaking, replace the guide with the appropriate one for your stove. There are a total of three different types so make sure you get the correct one for your stove.
