Troubleshooting Notes

This is a F140-20 made from a ceramic material which is high-heat tolerant. Because it's normally open, it's most often referred to as a fan switch. At ambient room temperature this switch is normally open or OFF and needs to detect heat to CLOSE to allow power to flow through the circuit. The switch will close at 120 degrees to restore power and will return to it's normal state at 140 degrees to cut power automatically. Failure of this switch happens when it stops opening or closing at the designated temperature thresholds.

Unfortunately, sometimes products do not work like they are supposed to. We offer a 90 day warranty on manufacturer defects. The new low-limit switch fits directly in the space of the old one as expected. The electrical connections are of a different style, requiring the existing wires to be cut and crimped into new connectors - no big deal; if I remember correctly, the web site warned of this. Most importantly, the new switch works great and the pellet stove is now back in operation!
