Enviro Double Cage Convection Blower: 50-2493-AMP

Replacement distribution blower for model Boston 1700 & 1200. May fit other models check your owner's manual.

This is an aftermarket blower. You will need to modify it slightly to be able to install it into your Enviro fireplace.

Instructions:

Remove the failed blower from the bracket by drilling out the rivets that hold it onto the bracket.

On the new blower, remove the mounting tabs on the left and right outside corners and the rubber feet and sleeves from the inside mounting feet.

Place the new blower over the bracket that you released from the old blower. Line up the new blower onto the bracket so that it is in the same position as the old blower. (NOTE: the new blower is slightly longer than the old blower.)

Once you have the new blower in place mark on the underside where the holes will need to be drilled into the housing of the new blower so that you can secure it onto the mounting bracket.

You will need 6 screws to secure the part onto the bracket. We have them available here:  Self-Tapping Screw.

Attach male spade connectors onto the wire ends.

Now connect the wire leads from the snap switch to one of the wires coming from the blower and the wires leading to the main wire harness onto the remaining wire. Note: It does not matter which wire is used to connect to the different components.

Finally, Install the new blower with the bracket attached, into the fireplace and connect it to the wire harness.

Installation Instructions:

1.) Unplug the unit's power cord.

2.) Locate the blower motor. Free-Standing Stoves: It may be necessary to remove the rear and side panels to gain access to this area. Inserts: Most often the unit needs to be pulled out of the firebox in order to access this location.

3.) Follow the power wires coming off of the existing motor and disconnect them at the first connection. Pay attention to the orientation of the wires and connection location. Often the power wire leads will come from the motor. Other times, there will be two lead wires that run from the unit and connect to tabs on the motor.

4.) Locate the fasteners attaching the fan housing to the unit and remove them.

5.) Position the new blower in place and reattach using the previously removed fasteners.

6.) Reconnect the wires. Pay attention to the wire location.

7.) Free-Standing Stoves: Reinstall any previously removed panels. Inserts: Reposition the insert back into the firebox cavity.

8.) Plug in the unit's power cord.

*On some units, the convection blower will sit in place and is not attached with any fasteners. *

The distribution blower is the fan responsible for blowing hot air into the room. Many stoves are also equipped with a high-limit sensor. If your high-limit sensor is tripping or you are receiving a high-limit error code on your board, this may indicate that the blower is not moving as much air as it should.

Check and see if the fan spins freely. The fan should spin freely in both directions with very little resistance. If the fan feels stuck or you feel resistance it usually indicates that the fan blade is not centered between the grommets.

If your distribution blower does not seem to be moving the same amount of air as it once did, inspect and clean the blower. Distribution blowers will often draw dust and pet hair into the blades of the fan when operating.

If the blower continues to rotate at a slower speed after it has been cleaned or you hear excessive noise coming from the fan it may need to be replaced.
