The Explorer III features Quadrafire's exclusive 4 point burn technology, along with automatic combustion control. The 4 point burn technology offers a more complete burn to maximize your fuel efficiency, and achieve longer burn times with less emissions. The automatic combustion control manages airflow to get the longest possible burn by carefully restricting airflow to the firebox once the fire is established, while increasing air intake at the start of your burn to get the fire going.
The Explorer III is able to produce extended burn times and reduced emissions without the use of a catalytic combustion system, which means you have less parts to maintain and replace. It is still important to regularly inspect and replace any worn or broken parts, however. Worn gaskets are unable to form a proper seal and can cause the stove to overfire, which will decrease your fuel efficiency and may even shorten the lifespan of your stove.
