Hearthstone Wood Stove (Castleton 8030). It is important to periodically inspect the glass and glass gasket on your wood stove to ensure you have a proper seal. A crack in the glass or a missing / deteriorated gasket could allow smoke or flue gases to enter the room.

Install Instructions:
1) Remove the door by fully opening it, and lifting it straight up, off from the hinge pins.
2) Remove the screws from the glass retainers (Spray the screws with penetrating oil and let it set prior to this step.)
3.) Remove the glass retainers.
3) Carefully lift the damaged glass out of the door and discard it.
4) Remove any remaining glass. Clean the gasket channel using a wire brush, or steel wool. Wipe the channel clean with a damp cloth to remove any loose residue.
5) Clean the screw holes and place a small amount of anti-seize compound in each one.
6) Peel the paper backing off the gasket. Starting in between the door hinges, pack the new gasket into the prepared gasket channel (Do not stretch or bunch the gasket as it’s placed into the channel).
7) Place the new glass into the door channel. Ensure the sticker/coated side is on the exterior face of the glass (Important! Center the glass and ensure the edges of the glass are parallel with the edges of the opening).
9) Check the glass position again (centered, and parallel), then screw the glass retainer clips with the glass pads to the door using a crisscross pattern (Tighten the screws no more than 1/8th of a turn after they seat).
10) Apply a light film of anti-seize lubricant on the door hinge pins, if needed.
11) Reinstall the door.
12) After 5-6 fires, check the glass retainer screws, and retighten if necessary
Helpful Tips:
If you need to remove the glass or glass gasket it is a good idea to spray any fasteners with a product like WD40 or PB Blaster prior to this step. This will greatly reduce the possibility of stripping or breaking any screws/bolts during removal. When reinstalling the glass tighten the fasteners in a crisscross pattern. This will help to ensure there is even pressure on the glass (Do not overtighten).
Please open and inspect your glass to make sure that it has arrived intact. Damage Claims for broken glass from shipping MUST be made within 72 hrs of delivery, no exceptions. Glass breaking from after installation is NOT covered under warranty, this is due to improper installation. If you do not feel comfortable replacing your glass, please contact a licensed technician.
