Instructional Notes

1. Loosen the two setscrews located in the old outer chrome handle with the 5/32” hex wrench, and disconnect the original latch assembly. Discard all the original parts except for the black wooden handle and the bolt that runs through it.

2. Pass the threaded portion of the new latch shaft through the ash door with the latch on the inside and the threads on the outside.

3. Slide the coil spring over the shaft of the latch on the outside of the ash door.

4. Place the chrome crank over the coil spring and thread it onto the latch shaft. Continue turning until the crank is about 1/8” from the surface of the ash door.

5. Slightly turn the chrome crank until you can see the groove on the latch shaft through the threaded hole in the side of the chrome crank (instead of threads). Holding the assembly in this position – use the hex wrench to tighten the setscrew securely into the groove on the latch shaft – wiggle the crank slightly to help fully seat the set screw.
