Install Instructions For Jotul Nickel Front Door Handle Complete Assembly: 155462
Before removing the old door handle, please take a picture of how the door latch bolt on the inside of the stove is orientated to the cast iron door crank on the outside of the door. The steel shaft should be pointing up when the cast iron crank is pointing down. If you have a roll pin holding the cast iron crank to the shaft you will have to remove your old door handle by cutting the latch bolt on the inside of the door with a hacksaw.
To install the new door handle, assemble the wooden handle through the cast arm handle in this order; Screw, small steel washer, steel spacer, wood knob, pass through the cast arm, mica insulation washer, hex nut.
To install the latch, you have to align the set screw pin hole with the latch weldment so that when the pin is through the latch the latch is pointing upward in the 12 o'clock position. If the latch is pointing downward, you have it backward. If your latch is pointing to the 3 o'clock or 9 o'clock position, you ordered the wrong handle, or the wrong handle was shipped to you. Look at our product pictures to understand the proper orientation.
Once you are sure about the alignment insert the roll pin into the cast iron crank and tighten it with a 3mm Allen wench.
Once the handle is installed you can then install the wood knob by inserting the bolt and sleeve into the wood knob with the fiber washer positioned between the wood knob and the cast crank. Using a Phillips screwdriver, tighten the screw while holding the washer and nut on the back side of the cast crank. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.
