I have a pepin and recently pellets are piling up on the grate. does the Grate Shaft Cage Weldment have anything to do with this?
Possibly. There is a small motor that tips the shaker grate back and forth. If that motor has failed and not tipping used fuel off out of the cage weldment then you will see build up.
The small motor looks like this Versa Grate Motor.
The next time you run the stove. Observe this motor and the components that are linked to it. You want to see movement with the rod and the grate inside the firebox moving. Here is the operations manual for the Pepin: Pepin Manual
Refer to page 8 and page 12 to identify the parts that you are looking to see if they are moving to cause the tipping off of used fuel in the burn area.
