Description

The power to your grill is found in the auger motor. This specially developed Auger Motor is designed for use with all Traeger pellet grills that use Alternating Current (AC) and manufactured after 2006. This motor helps power the auger which moves the pellets from the hopper to the firepot during cooking, with the rotation of 1.6 RPM and a clockwise rotation.

Note: Older grills which take the BRN250 may require the connector to be modified OR the wires to be spliced.

Traeger pellet grills made on the Generation 3 platform, (Pro575/780, Ironwood 650/850, Timberline 850/1300) use a different type of gear motor.

Instructions

Install Instructions For Traeger Pellet Grill Auger Motor: BRN100
  1. On the bottom grate under the hopper, locate the 4 screws that hold it in place and remove them.
  2. Remove the 2 screws holding in the controller.
  3. Once removed, rotate the controller, so you can push it through where it was housed.
  4. Unless already removed, clip the zip ties holding all the wires together.
  5. Locate the 4 screws holding the hopper assembly on the grill and remove them (2 on either side).
  6. Carefully remove the hopper assembly.
  7. When replacing your feed motor, it's a good idea to remove the feed auger from the grill, make the motor swap and then reinstall the feed system as one piece.
  8. Remove the 1/4-inch bushing screw (Screw holding the auger to the frame of the grill).
  9. Disconnect the red wires from the main harness and loop them back through the burner mount so they are free.
  10. With force, try to pull the auger motor back and forth by hand to try to loosen the jam.
  11. Once the feed system is out of the grill, using 5/16" (8mm) socket wrench and a 4.5mm allan key, remove the Shear pin, freeing the Auger from the Auger motor.
  12. Replace the motor, reconnect the shear pin, install the feeder assembly and lock the bushing in with the set screw. Reconnect your wiring and then reinstall the hopper shell.

Troubleshooting

If your auger is jammed inside of the feeder, it's a good idea to replace the auger shaft as well as the motor as the auger can get bent or warped inside of the feed tube.
