Description

Replacement Ceramic Fiber Baffle Board and Blanket Kit for Vermont Castings Montpelier II Wood Stoves. The kit includes two baffle boards (SRV7095-117) and one baffle blanket (SRV7095-118).

Baffles in wood stoves and inserts are required to be in good condition to burn efficiently and meet EPA emissions regulations. The baffle, when working correctly, creates a secondary high temperature burn zone to reduce smoke emissions. Over time, it is normal for baffles to deteriorate and they can be easily broken during routine maintenance. Stoves with broken or missing baffles will burn less efficiently, smoke more, and not comply with emissions regulations. To ensure your stove is working efficiently and safely, inspect your baffles yearly and replace them when they have visible damage such as cracking or missing material.

1. Remove all ash from the firebox, and extinguish all hot embers before disposal into a metal container.

2. It is easier to remove both baffle boards and ceramic blanket after the tube channel assembly has been partially disassembled and the right side lowered. Follow steps 1 through 4 on page 25 for removal of the tube channel assembly. It is not necessary to completely remove the tube channel assembly.

3. Once the baffle protection cover has been removed, pull the baffle boards and ceramic blanket forward about 1 inch (25mm) and then overlap the baffles about 1-2 inches (25-51mm).

4. Slide the tube channel assembly to the left as far as it will go and lower the right side. Remove the baffle boards and ceramic blanket together.

5. Re-install in reverse order. Be sure the baffle boards and ceramic blanket are in their proper positions

Baffle and blanket placement is critical to heat output, efficiency and overall life of the appliance. Make sure the baffle is pushed all of the way to the back of the firebox and the blanket is laying flat. Inspect baffle for cracks.
