There are two wires (poles) in this thermostat cable. Attach one wire to each TSTAT terminal on the stove and one wire to the R and W value in any thermostat.
Thermostats are basically an on off switch for your stove. When a thermostat is not installed, the on/off button of your stove starts and stops the program for the stove's operation. Thermostats allow this function to happen automatically according to a heat value rise and falls according to the demand settings (temperature).
