1.) Unplug the stove and make sure it is cool to the touch.
2.) Remove the necessary panels from the unit (You may need to remove the rear and side panels).
3.) Next remove or unplug your RDT temp sensor and disconnect the power wires leading to the draft blower.
4.) Remove the screws attaching the blower housing to the unit (You may need to disconnect the exhaust from the unit).
5.) Remove the old gasket (Using a flathead screwdriver scrape and remove any pieces of old gasket stuck to the housing or body of the unit).
6.) Position the new gasket in place and reinstall the previously removed screws.
7.) Reconnect the RDT temp sensor and power wires.
8.) Reconnect and seal the exhaust (If it was removed) & reinstall any previously removed panels.
Note: If you are only replacing the gasket and the wires going to the RDT sensor and combustion blower are long enough you may not need to unplug/remove those connections.
-If you smell or visually see smoke when operating your unit, you should immediately shut down the furnace.
All gaskets should be inspected to ensure they are sealing correctly. When checking the area around the combustion blower look for black or brown stains on the gasket. If you find these marks, it is a good indicator that the unit is leaking in that area.
In some cases, the screws/bolts attaching the blower housing to the body of the unit can be adjusted and will resolve the issue. If tightening the screws does not help or the gasket is visibly damaged it should be replaced!
If you plan on removing the blower assembly or housing for any reason you should replace the gasket.
