Traeger chimney cap Stainless Steel Version compatible with any pro series grill, tailgater, elite, timberline & select grills.

Q: At what height should I adjust my cap?

A: The cap is adjustable to allow the heat and smoke from the grill to exit the barrel either slowly (lowered) or quickly (raised). Adjusting the cap will depend upon how and what you are cooking and the existing weather conditions at that time. Traeger recommends about a thumb's width in height as the default setting.

Q: Why would I ever want to raise it up or down?

A: For example; if you are cooking something low and slow, say at 200°F and its a chilly or windy day, lowering the cap will keep more heat inside the grill longer and will help the grill maintain a more even temperature...but, let's say that 4hrs later the wind dies down, the sun is up and the food has evaporated some moisture...you may want to raise the cap height a bit.

It's personal preference....but the cap does add some simple functions that can be adjusted on the fly.

To replace the chimney cap, simply spin the cap counter-clock-wise (to the left) until the through bolt comes out of the fitting. The nut which is included with this part is intended to be threaded on the through bolt to your desired "minimum" cap height so that when the cap is turned down, the cap cannot be threaded so low that the smoke is obstructed from leaving the grill. Where exactly that is is entirely up to you. We recommend a minimum cap height of 1" from the bottom of the cap to the top of the stack. This cap allows the grill to operate without it overheating.

Unfortunately, sometimes products do not work like they are supposed to. We offer a 90 day warranty on manufacturer defects. Some manufacturers make this a very simple and easy process unfortunately others do not. Items must be used in accordance with the manufacturers guidelines to qualify for warranty replacement. Please be advised that warranty claims for these parts may take up to 4 weeks for processing, and customers must cover shipping.
