Instructions

Install Instructions For Hearthstone Equinox Baffle Board Kit (21'' x 12'' x 1⁄2''): 90-76010-AMP

Install Instructions:

Equinox Baffle Replacement Kit #90-76010

MATERIALS REQUIRED: Baffle Board, Pliers, Baffle Bracket, and (3) Stainless Steel Cotter Pins.

1) Straighten the cotter pins so they can pull out of the tubes.

2) Taking out the baffle support will make baffle removal easier. Straighten and remove the cotter pin that holds the baffle support in place. Remove the baffle support through the front door.

3) Remove the damaged baffle from the firebox. If it is still in place above the secondary air pipes, lift the baffle straight up so that the cotter pins are no longer through the secondary tube. Then maneuver the baffle towards the rear of the stove and drop the front edge through the space between the first and second air tubes. Discard the original baffle.

4) The baffle bracket is mounted to the baffle on the side without a cutout. Align the baffle bracket so that the center holes align with the holes on the baffle bracket. Slide the cotter pins through the baffle and baffle bracket.

5) Place the new baffle assembly in the firebox with the bracket on the top. Position the indented edge of the baffle down and toward the front of the firebox.

6) Work the back end of the baffle up between the front and middle secondary air pipes and allow it to drop down onto the pipes.

7) Reinstall the baffle support so that the hole for the cotter pin is lined up with the hole in the back side of the first secondary tube. Reattach the baffle support using one of the supplied cotter pins.

8) Move the baffle so that the indented lip will rest on the front baffle support when the baffle is properly placed. Adjust the cotter pins so that they drop through the holes in the secondary air tube. Bend the cotter pins so that the baffle will not move out of position.

Troubleshooting

Helpful Tips:

It is important to inspect the baffle board on a regular basis. Missing pieces or cracks in the baffle may reduce how effectively the reburn system works. If you notice signs of deterioration as previously mentioned the board should be replaced.

Ask a Question
  • What's the differnce between a wool and ceramic baffle? Thanks

Glass wool has a tendency to breakdown under prolonged exposure to heat whereas ceramic wool lasts longer. Glass wool is glass, silica, and sand based whereas ceramic wool is alumina-silica based.

  • So what is this baffle made of? Is it ceramic because that sounds like the way to go if u use it to heat your house.

Yes these boards are ceramic fiber based.
