Install Instructions For HearthstoneMansfield 8010 & 8011 Gasket Kit: 90-57001

GLASS & GLASS GASKET REPLACEMENT

1. Remove the door by opening it about 90° and lifting it straight up off the hinges with the hinge pins remaining in the door.

2. Place the door face down on a flat, smooth surface, other than the floor, with the handle hanging over an edge.

3. Apply penetrating oil to the screws in the glass retainer clips. Remove the screws to separate the glass from the door.

4. Carefully lift the damaged glass and/or old gasket from the doorframe and discard it (Pay special attention to how the gasket is installed on the glass or door frame).

5. Peel the paper backing from the tape gasket. Apply the new gasket to the glass or doorframe.

6. Place the glass into the door frame. Place the clips and gasket squares (Gasket squares go under the clips) around the glass, and over the screw holes in the clip.

7. Screw the glass retainer clips back on the door.

8. Install the door.

DOOR GASKET REPLACEMENT:

1. Start by removing the door from the stove.

2. Place the door face down on a softflat, and even surface.

3. Remove the old gasket (After the gasket is removed make sure you clean or scrape away an old adhesive. It is imperative that the channel is cleaned before applying the new cement or silicone).

4. Apply a generous bead of gasket cement or silicone into the channel where the new gasket will sit.

5.) Starting on one end of the channel gently position the gasket in place (The gasket will fill the entire channel and butt together on one end. It is better to have more gasket than you need. You can trim any excess gasket at the end if necessary).

6.) Let the gasket set (Read the instructions on the back of the cement/siliconeSome gasket cement/silicone needs to sit for a predetermined amount of time before the door is reattached to the unit).

7.) Reinstall the door (Some adhesives will require the stove to be burned at a certain temperature for a period of time to cure the gasket. Check the instructions on the adhesive you're using to confirm).

Troubleshooting

Helpful Tips:

If you need to remove the door gasket, glass, or glass gasket it is a good idea to spray any fasteners with a product like WD40 or PB Blaster prior to this stepThis will greatly reduce the possibility of stripping or breaking any screws/bolts during removal. When reinstalling the glass tighten the fasteners in a crisscross pattern. This will help to ensure there is even pressure on the glass (Do not overtighten).

Hearthstone Mansfield 8010/8011 Gasket Kit

Easy to install. Pre measured gasket, applied adhesive to door and installed gasket. Gasket came up a bit short, so had to remove part of it and reinstall. Next time I would mark the gasket, when I pre measured, at the corners of the channel so I could gauge how I was doing when I did the actual installation

Gasket installation a breeze

This is only the second time in 20 years I had to replace the Gaskets on our stove. Our stove is the only heat source we use in winter, propane is used in early fall and late spring.

I cleaned out the old gasket with a phillips screwdriver, I removed the paper strip that covers the glue tape, put the gasket into the cleaned groove, cut the last 3 inches off, so they are plenty long, you don't have to stretch them, that's it.

At first the doors are hard to close, my husband had do it, after the gaskets were compressed over-night, I was able to close the doors by myself. Did a test fire, no escaped smoke. It took me longer to clean up the mess I made removing the old gaskets, then installing the gaskets. The Silicon and window gasket that come with the kit I did not needed, but you never know, I have it, just in case I ever do.

I believe in this product, it does the job!
