Hearthstone Wood Stove Glass (Hearthstone III). It is important to periodically inspect the glass and glass gasket on your wood stove to ensure you have a proper seal. A crack in the glass or a missing / deteriorated gasket could allow smoke or flue gases to enter the room.

Install Instructions:
1.) Open and remove the door. (This is done by tapping out the hinge pins with a hammer and punch).
2.) Once removed lay the door down on a protected surface (i.e., cardboard or blanket).
3.) To remove the original glass, apply penetrating oil to the four screws in the glass retention frame. Allow a few minutes for the oil to penetrate the threads and remove the screws with a 5/16” wrench.
4.) Lift off the glass retention frame. Some stoves may have two ceramic glass sheets (If there are two pieces of glass, make a note of the position of the one that is being replaced for reassembly).
5.) Carefully remove the damaged glass and discard it.
6.) Remove the used tape gasket from the glass sheet that will be reused (if the stove has two glass pieces).
7.) Pull the paper backing off the new tape (a little at a time works best) and wrap the tape around the glass sheet(s) overlapping both the front and back of the glass.
8.) Carefully lay the glass sheet(s) back into the door and reattach the glass retention frame.
9.) Place the front door back onto the stove and tap the pins back into the hinges.
Helpful Tips:
If you need to remove the glass or glass gasket it is a good idea to spray any fasteners with a product like WD40 or PB Blaster prior to this step. This will greatly reduce the possibility of stripping or breaking any screws/bolts during removal. When reinstalling the glass tighten the fasteners in a crisscross pattern. This will help to ensure there is even pressure on the glass (Do not overtighten).
Please open and inspect your glass to make sure that it has arrived intact. Damage Claims for broken glass from shipping MUST be made within 72 hrs of delivery, no exceptions. Glass breaking from after installation is NOT covered under warranty, this is due to improper installation. If you do not feel comfortable replacing your glass, please contact a licensed technician.
