Description

Traeger replacement auger feed motor for first Generation D2 pellet grills. This motor is superseded by the motor in the 2nd Generation D2 grills which use part KIT0577. Either motor can be used in any D2 grill.

D2 pellet grills use Traeger's latest D2 Control Technology and should not be confused with previous models which use "AC" power for the grill components. This is a 24v DC motor and has the ability to speed up or slow down and, turn in reverse to clear an auger jam situation. If your grill has a detachable power cord under the hopper, you have a D2 pellet grill.

Includes the Pro 575/780, Ironwood 650/885, Timberline 850, 1300, Silverton 620/810, and Century 885.

  • This is the older-style auger motor that came with all pellet grills using the D2 control. Traeger updated this motor to KIT0577. Each of these motors perform and attach to the grill in the same way.
  • ELE161 is the Wiring harness that connects the motor to the controller.
  • This is the screw, HDW086, which used to mount the auger motor, application requires a QTY of 4.
  • If you are considering replacing the auger motor you should always remove the auger shaft and inspect it for damage. The number one failure of an auger motor is from stress due to a blockage in the feed tube. When removing your auger motor you should always remove the auger shaft too and inspect it for damage from rust or warping. If your auger shaft is difficult to remove it is because of damage and it should be replaced. Here's a list of all of the common auger shafts used with the D2 auger motor. For the Timberline Series, please refer to the specific Timberline parts collection pages.

NOTE: There can be exceptions to the list below. Some models made prior to 2016 were one-off promotional grills and may have been made with parts which are not 100% accurate to our descriptions. ALWAYS measure your auger shaft from end to end and compare it against our measurements.

  • Silverton 620 uses auger shaft, KIT0524
  • Silverton 810 uses auger shaft, KIT0540
  • Century 885 uses auger shaft , KIT0549
  • Ironwood 885 and Pro 780 use auger shaft, KIT0431/ SUB1519
  • Ironwood 650 and Pro 575 use auger shaft, KIT0426

Troubleshooting

'CLEAR AUGER' FUNCTION

The easiest way to clear an auger jam in a WiFIRE-enabled (D2) grill is to use the built-in Clear Auger Jam function. When the user runs a Clear Auger command from the menu, the auger turns backward at full speed for ten seconds, pauses for one second, turns forwards for twelve seconds, pauses for one second, and repeats until the user cancels the operation from the menu.

  1. Remove your grill grates, drip tray and heat baffle.
  2. Clean out the firepot, vacuuming out any ash buildup.
  3. Empty the hopper. If the pellets are swollen from moisture, discard the pellets.
  4. navigate to Menu > Auger > Clear Auger.
  5. Once the auger is clear, select Cancel on your controller.
  6. Replace the heat baffle, drip tray and grill grates.
  7. Refill the hopper with fresh pellets.

IF 'CLEAR AUGER' DOES NOT WORK

If the Clear Auger function does not clear out the pellets successfully, or if the auger will not move, you will need to clear the Auger jam manually. 4

To clear an auger jam manually, you will need to access the auger motor. If you need assistance understanding how to access the motor, please contact Customer Service.

How to Clear an Auger Jam Manually

  1. Remover the lower panel underneath the hopper. This allows access to Auger Motor.
  2. Remove the 4 bolts holding the Auger Motor to the grill frame.
  3. Loosen the small screw that locates the Auger bushing.
  4. Pull Auger, Motor, and Bushing out of the grill.
  5. Clean any debris from Auger.

Re-install the Auger Motor

  1. Put Bushing, Auger, and Motor back into the grill.
  2. Tighten the small screw that locates the Auger bushing.
  • If the bushing is not lined up with the bushing retention screw, the auger gets jammed/pinched in the bushing and won't turn.
  1. Re-install the 4 bolts holding the Auger Motor to the grill frame.
  2. Re-install panel underneath the hopper.
