QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • The high temp limit switch was tripped. The blower doesn’t want to run and makes a shrill tearing(?)sound. Which is actually bad?

Sounds like the Convection blower. The high limit shuts down the stove if it gets too hot. The convection/room air blower has two functions. One, to push the heat the body of the stove is radiating out into the room and two, to cool down the body of the stove. The function of the high limit switch is to shut the stove down if  it senses that the body of the stove is reaching 250 degrees. This is to prevent damage from occuring from overheating. If the convection blower is not spinning fast enough or not spinning at all, it is no longer able to get the heat away from the stove to keep it from over heating, this will trigger the high limit switch to shut the stove down.

  • does this switch control the blower to start up and blow air

Yes. This is the safety high limit switch. It will shut the stove off if the temperature reaches 200 degrees. The function of the convection blower/ room air blower is 1) to blower hot air into the room and, 2) to cool off the body of the stove so it does not over heat. If this blower is not working properly the stove will get too hot. Once it reaches 200 degrees the high limit switch will shut down the stove before any permanent damage can happen
