Harman Pellet Stove Burn Pot Clean Out Cover. This cover plate is located on the face of the burn pot. Removing this cover will give you access to the inside of the pot. This plate should be removed regularly for cleaning and needs to be removed when replacing the igniter. It is important to inspect this plate periodically to ensure it is seating correctly. If the plate dose not seal properly it can cause ignition issues and can negatively effect how your stove burns!
1.) Make sure the unit is shut down and the stove is cool.
2.) Open the main load door and ash door.
3.) Remove the ash pan (This will give easier access to the cover on most stoves).
4.) Locate the two bolts and loosen them until the cover plate is free (If the boltsare stuck in placespray a small amount of penetrating oil on them and let it sit. A pair of pliers or a socket should be used to loosen the bolts: (*Special care should be taken to avoid breaking/stripping the bolts*).
5.) After loosening the bolts the cover plate can be removed (If you are replacing the bolts they can be removed at this time as well).
6.) Position the new cover plate in place and tighten the screws. Do not over-tighten! (If you are replacing the bolts at this time you should thread both bolts into the holes on the bottom of the burn pot first, then position the cover plate in place and tighten each bolt).
7.) Confirm that the plate is seated tightly against the burn pot and there are no gaps present.
Troubleshooting
-If your stove is not igniting or burning correctly the cover plate should be removed and the inside of the burn pot should be cleaned/vacuumed.
-It is also important to make sure that the cover plate is seated firmly against the bottom of the burn pot. Any gap or opening will allow air to be drawn in at the bottom of the burn pot. This can cause missed ignition and an inefficient burn.
-At times a gap between the cover plate and the bottom of the stove can be resolved by simply tightening the thumb bolts. If the plate is warped it should be replaced.
