USSC 10-Gauge Wood Furnace Flue Baffle (Sold individually). The flue baffle redirects smoke into the chimney and acts as a buffer between the flame and the top of the firebox.  If you notice holes, cracks forming, or warpage starting to occur, the baffle(s) should be replaced!

*Note: Some furnaces will require two baffles.*

Instructional Notes

1.) Make sure the furnace is completely cool.

2.) Open the main load door.

3.) Loosen the two screws/bolts above the main load door.

4.) Slide the two hooks holding the smoke curtain out of position and remove the smoke curtain (Pay attention to the orientation of these hooks when removing they will have to be reinstalled when the curtain is repositioned in place).

5.) To remove the baffle(s) simply push up from the bottom and pull the baffle towards you (The baffle sits in two groves along the top of the furnace. Some units will have (2) baffles).

6.) Reposition the new baffle(s) into the groves at the top of the furnace.

7.) Reposition the hooks and smoke curtain.

8.) Tighten the two bolts that hold the curtain hooks in position.

9.) Shut the main load door.

The flue baffle is an important part of your furnace. It works by redirecting smoke into the chimney and acts as a buffer between the flame and the top of the firebox. You should inspect the baffle(s) on a regular basis. If you notice holes, cracks forming or warpage starting to occur the baffles should be replaced!
