Blaze King Wood Stove Door Latch Assembly. This assembly accepts the hook on the door handle. The latch assembly can be adjusted by loosening the two bolts attaching the latch to the body of the stove. If the door is not sealing correctly and the gasket looks to be in good condition this latch assembly may need to be adjusted or replaced.
Replacement For Part Numbers:
Dimensions | 5-5/8" x 3" |
Latch Replacement or Tightening:
1.) Remove the side panel of the stove.
2.) Next, use a 7/16” wrench to loosen the two nuts on the latch cover. Tightening: Slide the latch cover towards the back of the stove and tighten the nuts. Replacement: Remove both nuts and remove the old assembly. Position the new assembly in the same orientation and reinstall the previously removed nuts.
3.) Once the latch has been adjusted or replaced reinstall the side panel and repeat the paper test.

Helpful Tips:
Inspect the door gasket for physical deterioration, missing sections or obvious leakage. The appliance front should make a groove in the gasket material. One side of the groove (toward the inside) will often be dark or black, and the other side (toward the outside) should be light or white. Dark smudges on the outside of the groove may indicate an air leak. Frayed or broken gasket material, or a gasket that is hard and unyielding, will also indicate need for replacement. Any time a piece of gasket is missing or is broken anywhere, the entire gasket must be replaced.
-To check the gasket further, wait until the appliance is cooled and insert a piece of paper (a dollar bill will work) into the door opening and close and latch the door. Obvious resistance should be felt when pulling the paper out Repeat this check several times around the perimeter of the door. If the gasket is in good condition and the door is not sealing, the loading door tension may need to be adjusted or the door latch assembly may need to be replaced.
