Jotul F400 Castine Glass (METAL CHANNEL VERSION): 156209-WC-OEM

This is a replacement 4mm thick glass with Metal Channel Guard for Jotul F400 Castine Wood Stoves With a Single Door Arched Glass. This is the thickness that Jotul is currently distributing. 

Your stove may not have a metal channel "guard" along the bottom edge. Initially, the Jotul F400 stove was distributed with glass that did not have a channel, regardless of the glass thickness.  Jotul added the channel to both the 4mm and 5mm glass to protect the bottom edge from fuel.

The measurements are 18-5/8"W x 11-3/8"H x 1/8"T with a top arch.

A Note About Our Glass: Unlike some manufacturers, we do not use tempered glass. Tempered glass should NEVER be used in a wood fuel stove, it is not suitable for high heat use. Our glass is made to resist very high temperatures up to 1,400° F / 760° C with low thermal expansion.

Instructional Notes

1. Remove the door from the stove and place it on a flat surface

2. Carefully remove all of the glass clips from the inside of the door.

3. Gently remove the glass panel and gasket.

4. Using a wire brush, remove all remaining debris from the gasket channel.

5. Apply a small bead of gasket/stove cement to the gasket channel. Beginning at the bottom center, press the new 1/4" LD round gasket into place without stretching it. Do not overlap the ends of the gasket rope.

6. Center the new glass panel over the gasket. Reinstall the glass clips.

NOTE: It is extremely important to tighten the glass clips gradually, and in an alternating pattern as you would when tightening the lugs on a vehicle wheel.

Please open and inspect your glass to make sure that it has arrived intact. Damage Claims for broken glass from shipping MUST be made within 72 hrs of delivery, no exceptions. Glass breaking from after installation is NOT covered under warranty, this is due to improper installation. If you do not feel comfortable replacing your glass, please contact a licensed technician.
