QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

If your question does not concern this specific product, use our contact form
Ask a Question
  • Do I need to put the sealant in the door before putting the gasket in the groove if it is a good tight fit?Wi

Yes. You will want to make sure that any remaining old cement is cleared out with either a wire brush or some kind of scraper. Once the channel is clean, squeeze a bead of the gasket cement into channel. You don't need a really thick bead just one continuous line. Press the rope gasket into channel over gasket cement. Don't stretch the gasket rope just press it in place. You want the gasket to have some cushion and not be streched thin. Close the door and wait for an hour. Once you burn the stove after replacing the gasket, the cement will cure fully.

  • is this the cement I should use for placing (and screwing) the 6" stove connector into the top of my wood burning fireplace insert?

No, you would want to use this product, Milpak
