Hearthstone Gas Stove Glass: (DVI-HT 8890).  It is important to periodically inspect the glass and glass gasket on your stove to ensure you have a proper seal.  A crack in the glass or a missing / deteriorated gasket could allow exhaust to enter the room.

A Note About Our Glass: Unlike some manufacturers, we do not use tempered glass. Tempered glass should NEVER be used in a wood fuel stove, it is not suitable for high heat use. Our glass is made to resist very high temperatures up to 1,400° F / 760° C with low thermal expansion.

Instructions:

1) Allow the stove to cool completely. If the glass is severely broken pull the broken fragments of glass away from the firebox using heavy-duty gloves.

2) Remove the cast front by lifting and pulling away from the unit. Carefully set it aside.

3) Pull the 4 retaining clips up to release the glass.

4) Remove the remaining glass from the glass frame by drilling out the rivets that lock the glass in place.

5) Locate the 3/4” x 1/16” flat tape gasket. Peel the adhesive protecting paper away from one end. Starting at the center of the long end of the new glass apply the gasket centered on the edge of the glass. Continue to wrap the gasket around the edge until you meet at the starting point. Do not overlap the gasket ends or leave ends with ragged edges.

6) Firmly and evenly, fold the gasket around the edges of the glass so it lies flat on the surface.

7) Place the glass with the new gasket back into the glass frame and install new rivets.

8) Carefully install the new glass with frame onto the firebox and reposition the retaining clips.

9) Replace the cast iron by reversing the steps used for removal.

Helpful Tips:

Pay special attention to how the gasket is installed on the old glass and how the glass sets in the glass frame prior to removal. If there are any fasteners that need to be removed, it is a good idea to spray them with a product like WD40 or PB Blaster prior to removal. This will greatly reduce the possibility of stripping or breaking any screws/bolts during removal.

Please open and inspect your glass to make sure that it has arrived intact. Damage Claims for broken glass from shipping MUST be made within 72 hrs of delivery, no exceptions.
