Instructional Notes

1.) Make sure the stove is shut down and has completely cooled.
2.) Begin by gently pulling the old gasket out of the channel on the door. You should wear gloves for this step.
3.) Using a flathead screwdriver, scrape out any old adhesive from the channel of the door.
4.) Once the channel on the door is clean, apply a bead of gasket cement into the gasket channel on the door.
5.) Starting at the bottom center of the door, begin to push your new gasket into the channel.
6.) Once the gasket is in place, work your way around the door, gently pressing on the gasket to ensure it is seated correctly.
7.) You will likely need to trim the gasket. It is best to start by trimming a little at a time. If you cut too much off, you may not have enough gasket left to complete the seal around the door.
8.) Close the door to confirm that the gasket has been seated correctly.
9.) Keep the door closed until the gasket cement/adhesive cures. This may vary depending on the brand and type of adhesive/cement you use. Some cements require the stove to be fired for the adhesive to cure properly. Make sure you follow the directions listed on the back of the sealant/cement tube!
Troubleshooting Notes
It is important that there is a good seal between the door and the body of your stove. A poor seal can cause ignition issues, burn problems, and allow smoke to enter the room. If you are having an issue where the door doesn't seal properly, adjusting the handle or door latch may resolve the issue. If the problem persists or you notice that the gasket is damaged, the gasket should be replaced!
