If the tip of the thermocouple is exposed a new cover needs to be ordered.
The thermocouple MUST have a cover to prevent damage
Thermocouple wires MUST be wired correctly
QuadraFire uses a thermocouple to measure the fire temperature at the top of the burn pot for their "proof of fire." Once the fire has started the control box will illuminate a green light when the thermocouple produces between 2.5 - 3.0 mV DC, which is approximately 300°F. Once the fire has established itself, a red light will illuminate between a reading of 12 to - 13 mV DC, which is approximately 600°F.
The control box must achieve red light status within 18 minutes or the stove/ insert will enter into a shutdown mode.
If the thermocouple circuit is not detected within 30 seconds of startup an "amber" light will be visible in the control box and the thermocouple circuit must be checked for proper connections or replace the thermocouple.
