Description

This is updated replacement burn pot thermocouple. Includes the thermocouple, hardware, mounting instructions, and retrofit instructions for the older models made prior to 2009. This is the direct replacement for the Mt Vernon AE pellet stove, Mt Vernon AE pellet insert, and the Edge 60 built-in fireplace. 

IMPORTANT: This is one of two thermocouples used on Mt Vernon AE & Edge 60 units. The other thermocouple is located near the drop tube, it is part number SRV7000-381.

Fitment Notes:

  • The Mt Vernon AE superseded the Original Model Mt Vernon, which was discontinued in 2005. Please use this link for parts for the Original Model Mt Vernon.
  • The Mt Vernon AE is a different unit than the Mt Vernon E2, which later become the Trekker. Please use these links containing parts for the Trekker and Trekker Insert.

  1. The Mt Vernon AE uses two thermocouples, one which is mounted on the firepot and one that is mounted on the back of the pellet drop tube. The mother board must detect both of these circuits of an error message will display and the unit will not start-up.
  2. IF UNIT LIGHTS AND GOES OUT DURING START-UP: SEE PAGE 16 (FIREPOT THERMOCOUPLE TROUBLE-SHOOTING)
  3. Early versions of the motherboard for the AE units had known issues regarding the thermocouple connections on the PCB board where the pins of the thermocouples connect. If you have replaced the thermocouple and are still having problems, you are probably going to have to replace the motherboard/ control board. Over time, the solder connections at the thermocouple connection points will develop microscopic cracks in the solder, which can sometimes be remedied by heating and "re wetting" the solder points at the connections (skills and specialized tools are required) OR the pins at the solder connections will become separated from the PCB board altogether. These problems will require a new control board, part SRV7000-456

Unfortunately, sometimes products do not work like they are supposed to. We offer a 90 day warranty on manufacturer defects. Some manufacturers make this a very simple and easy process unfortunately others do not. Items must be used in accordance with the manufacturers guidelines to qualify for warranty replacement. When our thermocouple died, I ordered this part along with the ceramic cover to attempt to replace myself rather than call the fireplace company (ie saving myself at least $300). The part works perfectly, the spring on it actually makes it a TON easier to install than the old version. Great replacement part for a wonderful price.
