The Vacuum Shut Down Switches (Part # PU-VS and CU-VS) help control various functions of the unit. If an operational error occurs in the unit, a switch will either stop the top (feed) auger or shut the unit off; if the unit turns off an E-1 Code (error code) will appear in the Heat Range and Blower Speed windows of the Control Board. Situations which could cause this include power failure, Combustion Blower failure, improper flue installation, a blocked flue (from rodents, nests, etc.), or “dirty burning” from burning improper fuel.
Vacuum Switch Visual Note: The manufacturer of all OEM and AMP switches has made a design change. The switch received may appear different, but will work the same.
In most cases the switch is going to be fine. to test it you need to attach a meter to the 1-3 positions of the switch and apply suction the the hose attached to the gray side of the switch. WATCH OUR VIDEO for a full explanation.
This switch need to be wired on spade 1 and 3. There is no spade on the #2 position (middle). The Hose MUST be attached to the gray side of the switch, there is nothing attached to the black side.
