This QuadraFire thermocouple is a replacement part for the 800, 100 Series, and the CB1200 freestanding stoves and inserts.

The thermocouple is made up of two dissimilar metals that when joined together will produce a small amount of electricity when heat is applied. The hotter the fire the higher the voltage produced; topping out at 30 millivolts (DC) while the stove is burning on high. The function of the thermocouple is to sense the temperature in the firepot; if the thermocouple is fracture

Instructional Notes

The thermocouple MUST be wired correctly. at the thermocouple connection, the wires must go the the terminals that corresponds to the red and yellow wires.

Troubleshooting Notes

1. If the tip of the thermocouple is exposed a new cover needs to be ordered.
2. The thermocouple MUST have a cover to prevent damage
3. Thermocouple wires MUST be wired correctly
4. QuadraFire uses a thermocouple to measure the fire temperature at the top of the burn pot for their "proof of fire." Once the fire has started the control box will illuminate a green light when the thermocouple produces between 2.5 - 3.0 mV DC, which is approximately 300°F. Once the fire has established itself, a red light will illuminate between a reading of 12 to - 13 mV DC, which is approximately 600°F.
5. The control box must achieve red light status within 18 minutes or the stove/ insert will enter into a shutdown mode.
6. If the thermocouple circuit is not detected within 30 seconds of startup an "amber" light will be visible in the control box and the thermocouple circuit must be checked for proper connections or replace the thermocouple.
7. The thermocouple light will turn an amber color and flash 3 times, pauses and then repeats this process. This indicates there is a problem with the thermocouple. Please check the circuit and replace the thermocouple if necessary.
