Description

Englander Vacuum Shut Down Switch. The vacuum hose from this switch connects to the Exhaust Blower of the stove. Will retrofit to older (metal) type switches in older model pellet units.

What Does This Part Do?

The vacuum switch is the stoves way of knowing it has an airflow through the venting in the proper direction. The vacuum switch is the stoves way of knowing it has an airflow through the venting in the proper direction. If the vacuum switch doesn't see a pressure difference, it will will remain closed (closed circuit, electricity allowed to flow). When it opens (open circuit, electricity not flowing), the auger is stopped by depriving the stove of fuel and leading to shut down.

How Do I Know If My Switch Is Bad?

If an operational error occurs in the unit, a switch will either stop the top (feed) auger or shut the unit off; if the unit turns off an E-1 Code (error code) will appear in the Heat Range and Blower Speed windows of the Control Board. Situations which could cause this include power failure, Combustion Blower failure, improper flue installation, a blocked flue (from rodents, nests, etc.), or “dirty burning” from burning improper fuel.

Note (2006 & Later Models): These stoves use 1 x CU-VS switch and 1 x PU-VS switch

Note (Pre 2006 Models): These stoves use 2 x PU-VS switches

Vacuum Switch Visual Note: The manufacturer of all OEM and AMP switches has made a design change. The switch received may appear different, but will work the same.

Troubleshooting

To solve the problem with an E1 Error Code you need to inspect the vacuum hose going to the switch. If it is dry and cracked, you can sometimes cut the end of the hose to regain a tight seal, if you have enough length, otherwise you need to order new hose. Part# PU-VH

This switch need to be wired on spade 1 and 3. There is no spade on the #2 position (middle). The Hose MUST be attached to the gray side of the switch, there is nothing attached to the black side.
