Description

The vacuum switch is located inside the mechanical area of the appliance and will have a black or reddish-orange hose attached. This switch closes the feed circuit when negative pressure above .05" WC is present in the firebox. This pressure switch is a safety device to shut off the feed motor if the exhaust or the heat exchanger system is excessively dirty, the venting is obstructed, or if the firebox door is not fully closed and properly sealed.

This is the newest style switch and replaces all previous vacuum switches.


This pressure switch does not come with a hose. If you need the switch and the hose you want part, SRV240-0450

Installation Instructions:

1. Disconnect the power supply to the stove and remove side panel.

2. Remove the hose and wires from old switch.

3. Remove the screws from old vacuum switch.

4. Attach the hose to the grey port on the new vacuum switch.

5. Attach wires to the new vacuum switch.

6. Mount the new vacuum switch.

Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting Notes

To test the vacuum/pressure switch, disconnect the air hose from the body of the stove. With the other end still attached to the air switch, very gently create suction on the loose end of the hose (You may want to remove the hose entirely from the port on the stove and the air switch first to make sure it is clear). If you hear a click, the air switch is working. Be careful during this step. Creating too much negative pressure can damage the switch.

If the switch appears to be operating correctly but you are still receiving a vacuum-related error code, make sure to check:

1.) All gaskets are in good condition.

2.) The main load door and ash door are closing correctly.

3.) There are no obstructions in the exhaust vent or combustion blower.

Quadra-Fire Notes:

  1. The hose connection for the vacuum switch, where it connects to the feed tube can sometimes get clogged with pellet dust. Use a paper clip to clear the blockage.
  2. The pellet hopper must have at least a pound of pellets in the hopper to create a seal around the base of the hopper for the switch to close
  3. Check snap disc #2 and make sure it is not tripped if your stove uses 3 snap discs for safety controls
  4. The combustion/ exhaust blower must be turning to create air flow to close the vacuum switch
  5. If your hopper has a hopper lid sensor, the hopper lid must be closed for the circuit to operate.
  6. Using a jumper wire to bypass the vacuum switch, if the stove operates and everything above has been checked, replace the vacuum switch.
  7. If the stove still does not operate with the vacuum switch bypassed, check all of the other safety switches in the feed circuit inluding testing the motor for proper operation.

Unfortunately, sometimes products do not work like they are supposed to. We offer a 90 day warranty on manufacturer defects. Works well, just one issue for me.

The switch mounted correctly and is working well so far. The only issue is that the unit is substantially smaller and shorter than the original so the tubing it connects to no longer has any slack. I will look into replacing the tubing, it may have been trimmed in the past.
